Your First Project

Name the brand the way buyers say it#

Use the name people type into an assistant. If your product is widely known by a short form, track the short form. If your company name and product name differ, track the one that appears in buying conversations.

Watch for collisions. If your brand name is also a common word or another company's name, check the raw answers in AI answer history early — you want to be sure a "mention" is really you.

Choose competitors you actually lose to#

Three well-chosen rivals beat ten aspirational ones. Good picks share your buyer, your price band, and your category language.

The payoff is diagnostic. When a competitor is cited and you are not, the citation list shows you the specific source that carried them into the answer — see Track Competitors.

Build a prompt set that covers the funnel#

A useful set spans the buyer's journey rather than repeating one intent:

Stage What the buyer asks What it tells you
Category "best AI visibility tools for SaaS teams" Whether you are in the consideration set at all
Comparison "alternatives to [competitor] for enterprise teams" Whether you surface where switching decisions happen
Problem "how do I track brand mentions in ChatGPT" Whether your content answers the underlying need
Brand "what is [your brand]" Whether models describe you accurately

Brand prompts matter more than they look. A model that describes your product wrong is worse than one that stays silent, and it is usually fixable by correcting a source.

Budget your credits#

Every prompt run against every model consumes credits. Prompts times models times frequency is your daily draw. Start narrow and deepen the set once you know which prompts move — Plans and Credits has the arithmetic.
