How BackupMonitor works

BackupMonitor sits between the reports your backup software already sends and the alert you actually need. There is nothing to install on your servers - you forward email, it does the rest.

Collection addresses#

When you sign up, a dedicated collection address is assigned to you automatically. You point your backup software - or a simple forwarding rule in your email client - at that address. Need to watch several sources? Create as many collection addresses as you need from your dashboard.

Because it works off email reports, BackupMonitor is compatible with any backup system that can send one: Veeam, Acronis, Synology, QNAP, rsync, Proxmox, and custom scripts included. No special integration is required.

AI analysis#

Every incoming report is analyzed by an AI, whatever its format or language. It determines whether the backup succeeded, failed, or completed with warnings, and flags anomalies that a rigid rule would miss. Reports are checked every 5 minutes, so a failure is caught in minutes, not at your next manual review.

Missing-report detection#

A backup that never reports is often the most dangerous kind. If an expected report does not arrive on time, BackupMonitor notices the silence and alerts you - so a job that quietly stopped running does not go unnoticed.

Alerts#

When a problem is detected, you receive an instant alert by email or Pushover push notification. You control which kinds of alerts you want to receive.
