Theming options#
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Theme toggle | Show or hide the light/dark mode switcher |
| Default theme | What visitors see on their first visit: light or dark |
How to configure:
Float Widget → Design → Theme tab → adjust settings → Save.
Tips for choosing defaults:
- Technical or developer-focused docs → dark default is widely preferred.
- User-facing or marketing-style docs → light default feels more approachable.
- When in doubt, keep the toggle visible so readers can choose their own preference.
Theme settings#
Default theme#
The default theme is what a new visitor to your documentation site sees before they have made any choice.
Options: Light | Dark
The visitor's preference is saved in their browser — so returning visitors always see their last-used theme, regardless of your default.
Theme toggle visibility#
The theme toggle is the light/dark switcher your readers press. When it is enabled, a sun/moon icon appears in the header or sidebar for visitors to switch themes manually.
You can also control where the toggle appears:
- In the header → via Header Options
- In the sidebar → via Sidebar Control
