Where each option is usually the stronger fit#
A built-in assistant tends to win when the value comes from reaching across the whole tenant — mail, files, calendar and chat at once — and when your legal review is already satisfied by the suite vendor's existing agreements.
R2 Copilot tends to win when the blocking question is the content itself: work you are contractually or legally unable to expose, teams that have been told not to paste into an assistant at all, and reviews where "not retained" is worth more than breadth of integration.
