Scheduling a Candidate Screen
Write to the candidate as you normally would. If the thread already exists, use it — Vela reads the context that is already there.
Looping in Vela to set up a 30-minute screen with Priya this week or early next.
Add anything that matters: duration, urgency, who else should join, whether the resume should go with the invite.
The candidate receives concrete options in their own local time. If they counter with a different window, Vela works with it rather than restarting.
No reply is the normal case, not the exception. Vela chases on its own cadence so the thread does not go cold while your attention is elsewhere.
Calendar invites go to everyone with the resume attached if you asked for it. You get a one-line confirmation.
What to say for common variations#
| You want | Write this on the thread |
|---|---|
| A different length | "Make it 45 minutes" |
| Someone else included | "Include Marcus from the hiring team" |
| The resume attached | "Send the resume with the invite" |
| Urgency | "We need this before Friday if possible" |
| A prep call first | "Book 15 minutes with me beforehand" |
Then what#
When the screen is done, the candidate usually moves to a hiring-manager call or a panel. See Running a Full Interview Panel, and Collecting Interview Feedback for closing the loop.
