Overview

Adjust Mode

Enter it with command.enterAdjustMode. If that command has no sequence or shortcut yet, assign one in Settings.

What gets adjusted#

Adjust Mode picks its target from the cursor position first. If the cursor sits over a supported draggable control, a splitter or a slider value indicator, that control becomes the target. Otherwise it works on the active window.

When no supported target is found, it shows a warning and leaves the mode.

Adjust a window#

With the active window as target, you can move it, resize its edges, center it, send it to another display, and enter or leave full screen.

Number keys move the window to screen ticks: 1 is the first tick and 0 the last. Press a number for horizontal movement, or hold Shift for vertical.

Hold a Nine-Square Grid edge or corner key to resize that side. A corner key adjusts two edges at once, and holding several grid keys adjusts several sides. While resizing, number keys move the selected edges to ticks and direction keys step to the next tick on the matching axis.

Input Action
Number keys Move the window or selected edge to a tick
Shift + number Move the window vertically by tick
Direction keys Move to the previous or next tick
Control + direction Move or resize by a small fixed distance
Command + direction Move the window to another display
` Center the window horizontally
Shift + ` Center the window vertically
= Enter full screen
- Exit full screen

Resize by ratio#

Hold the center Nine-Square Grid key to resize by ratio instead of moving.

Type two numbers: the first is the numerator, the second the denominator, and 0 means 10. So 5 then 0 gives 5/10, half the width.

The ratio applies to width by default; hold Shift while typing the second number to apply it to height. The numerator cannot exceed the denominator. If the result is smaller than the app allows, macOS may keep the window larger than you asked.

Adjust splitters and sliders#

When the cursor is over a supported splitter or slider value indicator, that control is adjusted instead of the window.

Input Action
Number keys Move the splitter or slider to a tick in its range
Direction keys Move to the previous or next tick
Control + direction Make a small immediate adjustment

Leaving#

Successful adjustments keep you in Adjust Mode, so you can keep refining the same target. Press Esc when you are done.

Adjust Mode is an Unlocked feature, including splitter adjustment. See Plans and Licensing.
