Page feedback
Where page feedback can appear#
Page feedback has two independent toggles, because they catch readers at different moments.
| Under the page | In the "On this page" panel | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | At the end of the article, above the previous/next links | In the right-hand outline, below the table of contents |
| Setting | Rate this page (Content tab) | Rate Page (Right Sidebar tab) |
| Default | On | Off |
| On a phone | Shown | Not shown — the right-hand panel is not rendered on narrow screens |
The bar under the page is the one most projects want on: readers reach it by finishing the page, which is the moment they have an opinion, and it is the only one your phone readers can see at all. Turning on both collects a single combined series — the two are separate places to ask, not separate metrics.
Turn on page feedback#
Under the page (on by default):
- Open your docs site while signed in.
- Open Float Widget → Settings → Content tab.
- Turn Rate this page on.
In the "On this page" panel:
- Open Float Widget → Settings → Right Sidebar tab.
- Turn Rate Page on.
Read the results#
Open Float Widget → Analytics tab and scroll to the Feedback section. It shows:
- Total thumbs-up and thumbs-down counts across the site
- A per-page breakdown, so you can sort by the pages readers rated worst
Act on what the ratings say#
| Signal | What to do |
|---|---|
| Mostly thumbs-down | Rewrite for clarity, add an example, or split the page in two |
| Mostly thumbs-up | Reuse its structure as the template for new pages |
| No ratings at all | Check whether the page gets traffic in Web analytics before rewriting it |
Feedback is most informative on instructional pages — tutorials and how-to guides — where a reader either finished the task or did not. On reference pages such as parameter tables, a rating tells you little.
Collecting a rating calls no AI model, so page feedback does not draw on your project balance.
Next steps#
- Web analytics — pair a low rating with the traffic the page gets before you decide to rewrite it.
- Full-text search — failed searches are the other signal that a page is missing or misnamed.
Every new project starts with $1 of balance, and page feedback does not spend it.
