How much does each one cost?#
As of 2026-09-20, docsio.co listed a free plan (1 site, 5 AI edits/month, hosting, custom domain, SSL and llms.txt included) and a Pro plan at $60/month per site, which removes the Docsio badge and adds password protection, doc versioning, full-text search, the AI chat widget and the MCP server. Check the current figures there before you budget — plans move, and this page cannot move with them.
Docsbook does not sell tiers per site. A Free plan covers branding, navigation, analytics and a custom domain at $0; Pro is $20/month per project with a $20 monthly AI allowance included and overage capped by default; Enterprise is a flat price for unlimited projects, contact sales. Current numbers live on docsbook.io/pricing, generated from the live pricing constants on every request.
How different is the setup?#
Docsio starts from a URL, not a repository: point it at your existing website and its AI drafts a full doc tree in minutes, extracting your colors and fonts along the way. Ongoing edits happen by instructing the AI agent in plain English rather than editing Markdown files directly. That is a real advantage if you have no documentation at all yet and want something presentable fast.
Docsbook starts from a repository: connect a GitHub repo and the site redeploys on every push, reading the Markdown you already have (or are willing to write). There is no AI-generation step and no dashboard-first content model — the docs are exactly the files in your repo.
How do the AI-search features differ?#
Both platforms treat being cited by an AI assistant as a first-class goal rather than an afterthought, and both auto-generate llms.txt. The gap is in what is free and what is gated:
- MCP server — free and included on every Docsbook plan; on Docsio it ships only on the $60/month Pro plan, so a reader's agent can query your docs over MCP only if you are paying for Pro.
- AI chat for your readers — same pattern: built into Docsbook from the start, a Pro-only add-on on Docsio.
- Translation — Docsbook auto-translates to 15 languages and indexes each locale separately with

When should you choose Docsio?#
- You have no documentation written anywhere yet, and want an AI to generate a first version by reading your existing marketing site rather than starting from a blank repo.

- A flat $60/month for one site, with MCP and AI chat as paid add-ons, fits your budget better than a pay-as-you-go AI balance.
